Constituent Services and
Public Hotline Section
This Section mainly addresses questions, requests, comments, and complaints from the general public as well as federal, state, and local public officials and governmental agencies. The Constituent Services and Public Hotline Section evaluates each call to determine if the Attorney General’s Office should or can take any action and if so, directs the caller to the appropriate division, section, or person. Callers with issues outside the Attorney General’s jurisdiction are referred to other public agencies.
Services this Section Provides
The Constituent Services and Public Hotline Section provides general information in response to requests or complaints by researching state and federal case laws and statutes, rules and regulations, and Attorney General opinions.
Calls related to a specific case or those which concern an intergovernmental matter generally are routed to the appropriate area or the information is obtained and relayed to the caller. NOTE: The Constituent Services and Public Hotline Section cannot provide legal advice or legal representation. However, this Section does try to answer general questions and provide referrals to agencies and publicly available websites that may be of assistance to the caller. Calls or questions pertaining to the Attorney General’s Office are relayed to the appropriate division chief, division, attorney, or staff member. If the call or questions do not concern the Attorney General’s Office, the caller is referred to the appropriate authority.
